News and Updates:

2/22/2010 @ 9:15 AM: Pardon our tardiness-- its been quite sometime since our last update! We’ve been quite busy here at Malone Specialty as we continue to renovate our main website. So if you have any interest or need for custom metric fittings, be sure to check out our online catalog!

We’ve also updated our blog here at www.cvmarc.com. Read our new entry and see the value of the CV-MARC idle limiter!

2/8/2010 @ 3:00 PM: Two exciting updates today: In the first bit of news, the Malone Specialty Inc. website has “gone live” with the first stage of its new-look renovations! Secondly: We’ve created a new blog to keep you up to date on news, offers, and messages from MSI.

2/5/2010 @ 2:53 PM: Visit the Malone Specialty Inc. homepage for more information about our company. Have a need for metric fittings? Check out our metric fittings online catalog!

2/3/2010 @ 4:00 PM: www.cvmarc.com will soon feature a weekly blog that discusses idling news, laws, and idle limiting technologies! Stay tuned, the first entry will likely open sometime this week.

2/2/2010 @ 2:25 PM: With Punxsutawney Phil predicting more chilly weather ahead, this would be an appropriate time to mention one of the unique features of the CV-MARC Idle Limiter: An outside temperature probe can be connected to the system that will disable the idle limiter if the outside temperature is below and/or above certain (adjustable) levels. So for those of you trucker drivers trying to escape the frigid temperatures, have no fear-- the CV-MARC Idle Limiter won’t put you out in the cold!

2/1/2010 @ 1:14 PM: The EPA cites unnecessary engine idling as one of the leading causes of smog. According to a representative: "It's not the driving, it's the unnecessary idling that causes the unnecessary pollution," one source said. "For a gasoline engine, idling for 10 seconds, that's the amount of fuel it takes to restart."

1/29/2010 @ 10:02 AM: Vermont joins the rest of New England by passing new anti idling laws. The new law hopes to eliminate pollution and save fuel by capping legal truck idling at a five minute maximum. According to the article, about 44 states currently have anti idling laws in effect.

1/28/2010 @ 12:00 PM: West Virginia and Vermont look to enact anti-idling laws. Also, an interesting forecast by the authors:

“The temperature exemption would expire May 1, 2011. At that time, it is expected that idle-reduction technology will be more widely available.”

The reality: Idle limiting technology is available now in the CV-MARC Idle Limiter.

1/26/2010 @ 11:12 AM: Now for a bit of shameless self-promotion: The CV-MARC Idle Limiter has cracked the top page of Google searches for “idle limiter” -- slowly but surely, CVMARC.com is becoming your source for idling information!

1/25/2010 @ 9:18 AM: “Everyone” knows that it is important to allow an engine to “heat up” in cold weather conditions... But could “everyone” be wrong?

The fact is an engine needs very little time-- if any-- when being started in cold conditions. Tip of the day: Don’t fall prey to the common myth that you must let your car idle for a few minutes to “adjust” to cool temperatures-- your engine is ready to go from the moment you turn it on!

A typical commercial tuck can waste 0.5 gallons of diesel fuel per hour while idling. Being complacent about fuel inefficiency due to engine idling can dramatically impact operating costs: Idling 2 hours per day can waste $676 per year in fuel based on $2.60/gallon.

Each gallon of diesel fuel emits 22.2 pounds of CO2. Environmentally conscious fleets can significantly reduce their carbon footprint by limiting engine idle time.

Over 40 states currently have anti idling laws that limit the amount of time an engine can idle. Typical idling laws limit idling to 3-5 minutes. Fines for non-compliance with idling laws can range from $200-$2500 for the first offense. For more information on idling laws, see our interactive idling laws map.

Fleets and OEM manufacturers continue to extend maintenance cycles. By installing an idle limiter and reducing idle time, maintenance cycles can be extended by as much as 25%.

Costly idling is preventable: Installing the CV-MARC Idle Limiter can save your fleet thousands of dollars in fuel costs and help you comply with state idling laws.
