Prevent needless engine idling with...

The CV-MARC® Idle Limiter

Commercial Vehicle Management and Reporting Center

Functions:

Monitors idle time and shuts the engine down if the time exceeds a preset limit. The idle timer is adjustable to enable you to stay in compliance with state idling laws.

Monitors engine oil pressure, temperature, coolant level.

The system is able to shut down the engine should a fault occur.

PTO operation and extreme outside temperatures can be

programmed to disable the idle limiter.

Monitors battery voltage and alarms if the voltage drops below

a preset point. If the engine is not running it can trigger an optional

latching relay to shut off all electrical items connected to the relay.

Faults are recorded in system memory.

  1.     Can monitor box temperature for perishable cargo.

•Includes remote engine shutdown and GPS capability

Vehicle History Report & Monthly Reporting

Data from the CV-MARC® Idle Limiter will be uploaded monthly by each

SDO to the  Malone Specialty secure reporting portal at www.cvmarc.com

through a wireless connection. SDO managers can access all of the fault data

by logging in to the CV-MARC® website with any computer that has access

to an internet connection.

Malone Specialty will provide monthly reports, organized by region,

depot, and individual trucks allowing management to quickly find

performance issues. Reports provide easy to read data and graphs which

can be downloaded into Microsoft Excel for further manipulation and

analysis.

CV-MARC Idle Limiter FAQ

Can the CV-MARC Idle Limiter work with a Global Positioning System?

Malone Specialty Inc. has partnered with Actsoft to bring customers an innovative completely integrated, on demand vehicle and engine monitoring system with a GPS Tracking Solution. Using Actsoft’s Comet Tracker software, you can view events from your computer, along with remotely shutting down a vehicle’s engine.

How can I restart the Engine after an Automatic Engine Shutdown?

The idle limiter system may be restarted three times by cycling the ignition key. If the fault persists, the system shuts down after 30 seconds each time. After the third restart, the system has a 5 minute delay before a restart is permitted. Each subsequent restart with a fault has a 5 minute delay. Optional unlimited restart is available.

Can the idle limiter be disabled for outside air temperature?

An optional outside temperature probe when connected to the system will disable idle limiting if the outside temperature is below and/or above set points. Set points are entered with the Palm Pilot. If this feature is enabled, initial start-up delay is disabled.

Can I idle longer for cold weather start up?

The idle limiter has a built-in cold weather start up feature. When the engine has been off for more than one hour the idle limiter is disabled until the vehicle moves a short distance. This prevents shutting down the engine while it is warming up on cold mornings. Once the vehicle has moved one time, the idle limiting works at the normal setting until the engine is off for one hour again.

How will my PTO affect Idle Limiting?

The idle limiter function can be automatically disabled by an electrical signal from turning on the PTO or other accessory.

How can I adjust default settings for idle limiting and the Battery Supervisor time?

Idle limiting time can be set by means of the Palm Pilot from 0 to 3600 seconds (1 hour). The default is 3 minutes. The low voltage trigger point is set with the Palm Pilot between 0 and 15 volts. The default setting is 12.1 volts. Fleet managers can edit this setting to keep in compliance with state idling laws.

How does the system memory work?

Engine run hours are accumulated when the ignition is on and the engine has oil pressure. Time is accumulated in internal RAM registers and transferred to non-volatile memory every time one hour is accumulated. At the time of the fault, the system records the engine hours, the cause of the fault, and the condition of all other parameters at the time of the fault. The memory will store 100 major faults such as low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, and low coolant level, and 1800 minor faults such as idle limit or low battery voltage.

Can my fleet vehicles be uniquely tracked?

Each unit has a unique serial number that can be linked to the host vehicle.

How can memory be downloaded?

The memory may be downloaded into a Palm Pilot by the use of a special adapter between the main box and a Palm Pilot equipped with the appropriate software. All fault information listed above is downloaded each time the memory is accessed. Once the data is downloaded to the Palm Pilot, it is transferred to a central data center for reporting purposes.

Can I lease the CV-MARC Idle Limiter?

The CV-MARC Idle Limiter can be leased over 36-60 month term, with a $1.00 end of lease purchase option. Lease payments start as low as $10.99 per month. A typical ROI of the CV-MARC is less than 12 months, so your lease payments can be less than your monthly fuel savings.
